While a mild case of acne isn’t necessarily a serious problem, it’s still a good idea to see a dermatologist. They can give you helpful information about what could be causing your acne as well as the best treatments.

Plus, there is another skin condition called keratosis pilaris that is sometimes mistaken for acne and a dermatologist can tell you if that is what you’re dealing with, saving you the time and hassles of using the wrong treatment.

It’s a good idea to prepare for your visit with the dermatologist by making notes about your acne - as much as possible. They will ask you about your background - things like how long you’ve had acne, how you’ve treated it and what form it has taken (lesions, whiteheads, blackheads, etc.) They might also ask if there is a history of acne problems in your family.

Be sure to tell the doctor if you are allergic to any medications. Females might be asked about their menstrual cycle and males might need to tell the doctor how often they shave.

You might be given a choice of treatments so it helps to know a little about the options before you make your choice.

Antibiotics are one treatment - they’re used to kill the bacteria that leads to acne. They can be taken orally or as a lotion or ointment that gets applied directly to the skin. In severe cases, it may be necessary to use both forms.

Topical treatments include things like benzoyl peroxide and retinoic acid. They usually come in the form of a gel and can sometimes cause redness and dry skin.

In more severe cases of acne, the dermatologist may recommend a physical treatment. This could include removal of whiteheads and blackheads and possibly drainage of cysts.

Whatever type of treatment you end up choosing, it’s critical that you follow the doctor’s directions. Take the recommended dosage - no more or no less. And even if your acne clears up, you need to continue to take the medication for as long as the doctor tells you to or the acne may reappear.

Some of the questions you should keep in mind to ask the doctor include:

- What kind of treatment would work best for my acne? - How long will it take before I see results? - What is the best way to care for my skin? - What can I do to prevent scarring? - Is it okay for me to use makeup? - Does this treatment have any side effects? - How long will I need to take this medication?

As acne treatments can go on for some time, make sure you ask any questions you have each time to see your doctor. Being as informed as possible will make your treatment much easier to deal with.

In response to the urgency with which teenagers view acne, pharmaceutical companies have been relentless in bombarding the market with a never ending array of so called cures. When visiting a drugstore in the hope of finding a treatment that really works, it’s hardly surprising that most people have no idea which product they should buy.

Where do you even start? Do you choose one of the well known treatments which have been on the market for years or should you give in to temptation and try one of the latest miracle cures? No matter what your decision is, who could blame you?

Like anything else, common sense about how to treat acne is always a good way to go. Let’s face it, many times we run to the drug store when we get some medical ailment because we are conditioned to do so.

The grim reality of the matter is, if an acne sufferer does not see immediate visible results, the latest cream or pills will simply join the rest of the collection which now lay abandoned, gathering dust in the back of a cupboard. Repeat this process a few times and you’ll soon see that this approach carries a high price.

If you are really serious about curing your acne, your first priority should be to make an appointment with a reputable dermatologist. This should be your first step, irrespective of how severe your acne is. By doing this, you will get to learn the truth about acne instead of relying on devious marketing ploys which only tell you half the story at best.

Dermatologists are specialists in their field so they would be more than willing to offer sound advice. Of course, as with the vast majority of conditions, early diagnosis and treatment is advantageous.

While you are with the doctor, talk about over the counter medications and what is the best choice for the acne sufferer in your life. He or she will be able to guide you to narrow down the choices because you will have more information about the kind of acne your teenager is facing.

Also, don’t ask the doctor for guidelines about brands. Instead find out what active ingredients to look for and how to evaluate a product by reading the small print on the box. That will help you narrow down just the right treatment for your situation and your acne patients needs.

You should feel good when you buy just the right acne medicine for the need and see it really starting to make a difference. But use this time when the attention of your teenager is on the problem to emphasize that no acne medication can do the whole job and the best approach to acne control is good hygiene, healthy living and good diet.

When you notice visible results due to a change in your lifestyle, the fact that your acne is clearing up, will be just one of the many benefits with which you will be pleased.

When pores become blocked and bacteria form inside them, the result is a common skin disease called acne. It affects nearly everybody at some stage in their life, but is usually at its peak in the teenage years. The inflamed, red bumps that form sometimes can be painful, and white pimples are unsightly even though their painless.

On the top layer we have our skin, of course. There are pores along with tiny openings called a hair follicle. Deeper into the pore are located sebaceous glands that produce sebum, a natural type of oil. This oil helps keep our skin protected and flexible.

The natural process is for our skin to grow, and shed by either showering or rubbing. Or it may come off by itself. At the same time, sebum is being distributed around the skin and our hair continues to grow through the surface. But, sometimes bacteria get trapped deep down in the pores and mixes with the sebum. This clogs the pores and results in acne.

Sometimes, that acne will appear as a white bump with redness that contains dead skin, white blood cells, and bacteria. The pimple can also contain “pus”, and will form a pustule. Postule is derived from the word ‘pus.’ A postule develops when the follicle wall in the cell breaks, and the white cells rush in as a healing process.

There are also another type called blackheads, they get there name from their color. But here’s an important point to remember, the black isn’t actually from dirt. It’s a combination of dead skin cells and sebum that have oxidized. The oxygen in the air causes a chemical reaction that turns them black.

All these types are referred to by the medical term ‘comedones.’ You can determine what type of comedone it is by observing if it is open or closed.

If your acne progresses, then it will take on one of these three forms. Here are the characteristics of each form. If the hair follicle breaks close to the surface, then you have a papule. They’re small, and don’t contain any pus. With a nodule, the break is at the base of the hair follicle, and there is a hard lump under the skin. A cyst is larger than a nodule, is soft, but painful.

I would venture to say that you are not here for a biology lesson, but are just looking for a way to effectively and affordably treat your problem as quick as possible. But, you now have an advantage because you are more knowledgeable about the problem, and will be able to tell if something is going to work for you. That way, you don’t spend money on stuff that doesn’t work.

by Ellen Jones

As we all know, everyone ages. Nobody can stop time, after all. As we get older, certain things will happen. Energy loss, hearing loss, sight loss and, of course, skin aging, are bound to become issues for many of us.

Wrinkles are an especially big problem as we age. There are many reasons why wrinkles form, but the biggest are too much sun exposure and not enough nourishment or hydration. So, those that spend a lot of time enjoying the sunshine tend to take a penalty for it, as they age.

Some people are just determined to look younger. They can’t stand the appearance of wrinkles. Such people can often resort to surgery, to achieve a younger look. Most, though, try wrinkle creams either instead of surgery or before resorting to surgery. The trouble is that not everyone has success with wrinkle creams.

There is a lot of debate as to how well wrinkle creams work. A lot depends on the individual cream. There are two primary types of wrinkle creams, though. The first, and arguably the best, actually nourishes the skin. It makes the skin healthier and, therefore, gives it a healthier appearance. Healthy skin is strong skin, after all.

Then, there’s the second type of wrinkle cream. This anti aging skin care product is really more of a patching product. It’s good for a spur of the moment event where a person wants the fast appearance of clear skin. It’s designed, much like makeup, to simply cover up a person’s wrinkles, not to actually revitalize the skin.

Creams and lotions are not the only anti aging skin care products out there, though. In fact, there are many to choose from including Botox injections. Botox injections can really give the skin a more revitalized look. They do that by stretching the skin and making it look fuller and less droopy.

Another option for wrinkle removal involves a bit of risk and expense, but may be worth it as a last ditch effort. It is cosmetic surgery. By removing some of your skin and pulling the rest tight against your face, cosmetic surgery can rid you of your wrinkle problem.

As you can see, there are many wrinkle removal options and anti aging skin care products out there. So, you really need to explore your options fully, before you choose which one is right for you. Explore each one’s good and bad points. Decide which solution fits best for you and you’ll be on your way to a more revitalized look.

Adult acne has been an age-old problem and combating it has led to an eternal struggle between the face and the medicated products used to effect a cure. People are willing to try almost anything for most of the over-the-counter acne medication provide little help. But before treating your acne, it is necessary to know what things you should never do while you having it.

Picking, Popping or Squeezing

Popping adult acne involves squeezing a pimple to get fluid out of it and cause acne condition to be worse. Popping acne will not allow the acne to heal faster compared to leaving the acne alone. If you pop acne, there is more of a likelihood that it will lead to permanent scarring.

Pre-tanning at a Salon

It has been proved that tanning can even cause your adult acne breakouts as it leads to over production of sebum. Tanning burns the skin and also rays emitted have many side effects that can make your skin dry and itchy. Long time spent in tanning booths or beds can lead to skin cancer and early aging of skin.

Smoking

Smoking does not just cause wrinkles, it has been connected with a type of adult acne. In a study of 1,000 women, 40% of those who smoked had non-inflammatory acne, compared to only 10% of the non-smoking women who participated. Female smokers who had experienced acne during teenager will have changes of suffering four times more acne as adult.

Taking Too Much Vitamin A

Researchers has shown that vitamin A is an essential nutrient to treat adult acne. However, taking too much vitamin A can bring your liver to dangerous levels and cause serious health problems. Your dermatologist may prescribe a safer derivatives of vitamin A to treat your acne.

Use of Cosmetics

You may be using makeup to cover up existing acne, but this is just making the problem worse. If you do wear makeup, choose good quality brands and non-comodogenic products which won’t clog pores, and wear your makeup lightly. Make sure to keep cosmetics, and your face in close supervision in order to prevent any breakouts.

A good acne skin care routine is essential to preventing and controlling acne. However some people have the time-to-time breakouts that seem hard to explain. The best way to minimize acne breakouts is to take care of your body.

Adult acne can be a problem no matter you are adult or teenage. The psychological impact of acne can impact your daily life such as social events and dating. Even mild cases of acne can leave a person with a negative self-image that can cause someone to miss out an opportunities and relationships that otherwise they might have explored.

Adult acne is totally different from teenage acne. The breakouts are usually mild to moderate but the blackheads and whiteheads are less commonly seen on the face. Below are 6 factors that cause acne breakouts:

Fluctuating Hormones

Adult acne is normally associated with the hormonal swings of puberty. But it can flare when hormones fluctuate. Some women get it as a result of hormonal swings during pregnancy and menopause.

Discontinuing Birth Control Pills

For few cases, women might get back adult acne if they stop taking birth control pills that keeping their acne away. Since hormonal unbalance is one of the reasons of having acne, taking birth control pills can help to clear up your skin. There can be a chance to let your acne come back if you stop taking birth control pills.

Taking Certain Medications

Women can control acne by taking some pills like birth control pills which contain estrogen and progestin. However, acne condition can be worse if the pills only contain progestin. You should never stop taking a prescription medication as it can leads acne develops or worsens.

Side Effect of Other Medications

Acne medications such as anti-convulsants, corticosteroids, and sobriety drugs can cause side effects. Once you stop taking a prescription medication, your adult acne will develop or getting worse. Consult to your dermatologist or doctor who prescribed the medication if you having this kind of problem, and ask for other medication that will not cause acne to flare.

Stress

Some studies showed that stress may trigger adult acne in women. There is a relationship between increased stress levels and higher levels of acne in women with fast-paced careers. In response to stress, the body produces more androgens that stimulate the oil glands and hair follicles in the skin. When over-stimulated such as during times of stress, acne can flare.

Products Used On Hair and Skin

Products such as oily sunscreens and hair greases promote a type of acne called acne cosmetica. To less likely to cause adult acne, make sure the products are labeled “non-comedogenic” or “non-acnegenic” when buying. This means that they are less likely to cause acne.

Beside these factors, adult acne also can caused by the environment and the products you use on your skin and in your home. To unlock the cures to your skin problems, you always have to observe what acne product works, what triggers a breakout and what changes have been going on in your life and environment. No matter mild or severe acne you have, there is always have effective adult acne treatment that can improve your condition.

This article provides in dept insight into the inroads made by oriental products into the household of an average American. It also speaks about mystic, exotic and beautiful designs of the east. Symbolic designs also finds a place.

It is a well known fact that oriental designs are the most sought after products in America to be around the home in the form of decorations. Be it oriental stencils, oriental tattoos of oriental posters, these are some of the innumerable examples of the rich artistic heritage of the East. They also blend well into the modern products of the West. The prominent among them is the oriental rug which is synonymous for the matchless craftsmanship, weaving and complexity which adorn the floors and walls of many a home.

Art in the eastern countries is so complex that sometimes the designs are made up of only one alphabet. They do not have the western concept of letters. Among the more popular is the Conji, a Chinese alphabet, which is an ideogram or a symbol. It is generally useful in the Chinese regions as many dialects exist in incomprehensible scripts, but, amongst them it is of immense help. The Conji is certainly good to see and which is incorporated in tattoos and designs too. It is suggested that in case you want to get yourself tattooed, it is better to know the meaning of the particular tattoo, as most of the American tattoo artists are not aware of the exact meaning of the tattoo. In this too, Conji symbols are integrated to make it more appealing.

Korean blankets are sure find a place in hearts of people for their captivating oriental design picturing scenes from nature, forests and animals. For that matter, you can find oriental designs on wallpaper too which give the space an exhilarating feel which will definitely amaze you. Embroidered pieces could also have oriental designs printed in them. Oriental designs provide an ambiance of exotic decorative and subtle grace emanates from them unlike western designs. They are a novel idea to lend that extra tinge to any space by using to decorate household products, furniture, dishes and a host other areas.

In San Francisco, it is not very hard to find exotic oriental designs on all types of household designs as a very large Asian community live around that area. But, even if you happen to live in an area where the population of Asian’s is less, you are sure to find the stamp of influence on most consumer goods imported from Asia. Hence, it is a better idea to purchase oriental goods from an actual oriental store as they would be authentic rather than trying to assemble it yourself.

Choosing the perfect tattoo that depicts your character and style is often difficult to do. When choosing a tattoo design you must remember that which ever design you choose, you will be attached to it for the rest of your life. The most horrific thing that can happen is that you choose a design you soon regret.

So you don’t make the mistake of choosing the wrong tattoo design, be patient in your planning. Many people who get tattoos, on impulse, wish they hadn’t. Little do they know, or don’t even consider, that removing a tattoo is both a costly and painful procedure.

Before choosing a tattoo design, it’s best to take a moment to think about your passions. Think about what moves you? If your answer is love, you may consider getting a tattoo that includes a heart. Or, maybe you have a passion for fast cars. There are many different styles of cars to choose from, it just takes going through a long list of auto designs to find out which be suites you. Knowing your passions will definitely narrow your search.

After you’ve at least found a symbol that represents your passion and personality, your next step is to choose an exact design. Your objection when choosing the perfect tattoo design is to find originality. Who wants to have the same tattoo that someone else has? Quite possibly, no one does. Therefore, it’s wise to visit various tattoo parlors to view original styles of different artists. You will know, instantly, when you have met the artist that designs tattoos that match your style.

To save time, you can also view different tattoo websites. Tattoo websites allow you to review a list of different tattoo stencils you can take to your tattoo artist. For instance, go to Google and search for tattoo designs. You will see a list of tattoo design websites such as Tattoo Finder, Tattoo Johnny, and Tattoo Design. But these sites are free. This means they have old fashioned designs . I suggest you to choose any one of the paid websites you can find at the bottom of the article . From there pick out about 5 different designs you like. You can either take your time to review your choices more closely to narrow your choice to only one, or you can simply take a print out of your short list of tattoos to the tattoo artist of your choice and ask for his/her input.

If you have a specific idea for a tattoo design in mind, but have been unable to find a design that matches it, you might consider drawing a sketch yourself and ask an artist to create a ‘one of a kind’ design just for you. Custom tattoo artist prices vary, so look around for the best price to fit your budget.

One other thing to take into consideration, when choosing a tattoo, is the color. Today, tattoos come in classic black or color. Black tattoos are more common. However, in recent times, tattoos drawn in various colors have gained popularity. Before making your decision, consider that while colored tattoos allow the artist to display creativity, they are more expensive than black tattoos.

Choosing tattoo designs doesn’t have to be a difficult process. In fact, it’s really quite simple. Before you begin your tattoo search, take the ideas listed in this article with you to help you pick the design that best resonates with your personality. It’s a good idea to consider getting a henna tattoo that lasts only 2 weeks to be sure that your choice to get a tattoo is something you won’t regret.
